14 Ways to Connect With Your Child
Small Moments.
Stronger Connection.
Practical Tools for Real Family Life.

A self-paced connection toolkit for parents, carers and young people aged approximately 9 to 16.

Create more calm, honest conversations, shared fun and meaningful moments with the young person you love.

You love your child deeply!
Connection can still feel hard sometimes.

The tween and teen years can bring big feelings, growing independence, busy schedules, short answers, misunderstandings and moments that leave you wondering what to say next.

 You might be noticing:
Conversations quickly turn into tension, defensiveness or silence.
Your young person is spending more time in their room, on a screen or with friends.
You want to support them, but do not want every conversation to feel like a lecture.
You miss the fun, ease and closeness you used to share.
You want to build a strong relationship now, before life feels even busier or more complicated.

You are not alone!

Parents and carers are holding a lot. Your young person is navigating a lot too. 14 Ways to Connect With Your Child gives you simple, guided Moments to come back to each other with more understanding, calm and care.
A toolkit you complete together
This is not a course for parents to quietly work through on their own while hoping their child will change.

It is a guided experience for you and your young person to complete together. You will share short activities, conversations, playful challenges, breathwork and reflection prompts that help you:

Understand each other better through communication, honesty and less blame.

Create more opportunities for laughter and shared fun.

Learn how to reconnect after a hard moment.

Build trust, gratitude and emotional safety in everyday life.

You do not need to do it perfectly. You simply need to start.

FAQs

Who is this for?
A: This toolkit is designed for parents, carers and young people aged approximately 9 to 16. It can be completed by a parent or carer and one young person, or adapted for your family in a way that works for you.

Do we have to complete the program in a certain timeframe?
A: No. This is self-paced. You can complete one Moment a week, work through a few during the school holidays or return to the ones that feel most helpful whenever you need them.

What if my young person does not want to take part?
A: Start with a gentle invitation. You might say: “I would love for us to have more fun and feel closer. Would you be open to trying one short activity with me?” Their choice matters. Begin with low-pressure Moments such as play, music or a shared activity, and build from there.

Does this replace therapy, counselling or other mental-health support?
A: No. This toolkit is designed to support connection, emotional wellbeing and everyday communication. It can sit alongside other professional supports, but it does not replace medical, psychological, therapeutic or crisis care.

Your next small Moment starts here!
You do not have to fix every hard conversation. You do not have to force closeness. You
do not need to get this perfectly right. You can start with one activity.
One honest conversation

One shared laugh

One breath

One small reminder that you are on the same team.

Your young person needs to know that you are willing to keep showing up.

Practical, Easy to Apply and Enjoyable.

I was a bit worried it would be a bit 'woo woo' and my boys wouldn't engage however, it was really down to earth, great practical tools that we were able to complete easily before dinner.

I feel I understand my boys better now and they've told me they see me differently, like I've actually lived a life and am not just their Dad.

It's fun, easy, yet the real tools we need to connect.

Looking Forward to Connection

The tools we will continue to use moving forward is the conscious way of speaking towards each other, and taking the time to have a meaningful conversation genuinely.

There are also some fun tools that we will make a more regular part of our life, to bring joy to our relationship.

It was really nice to look forward to the end of the week, knowing I get to do these connection activities together.
